Residential Board & Train

Real obedience.
Real results.

A residential program built to get the best out of any dog — daily structure, real-world exposure, and a level of obedience most dogs never reach. Not puppy classes, not group work, not a quick patch.

Is this the right program?

One program. Every dog.

This isn't a boarding kennel that also does some training. It's a residential obedience and behaviour program, built to get real, lasting results — whatever your dog needs to get there.

This program is built for:

  • Dogs that need real, lasting obedience — not just a quick patch
  • Everyday issues: pulling, jumping, poor recall, no engagement
  • Behavioural work: reactivity, over-arousal, fence running, resource guarding
  • Owners who want a genuinely exceptional, reliable dog — not just an average one
  • Dogs that have plateaued despite group classes or generic training
  • Anyone who wants the most thorough training available

We don't run:

  • Puppy pre-school or basic manners classes
  • Trick training or sport/agility conditioning
  • Group class environments
  • Drop-off day care with incidental training

For a dog that's specifically reactive or aggressive, Private Training is our dedicated track — tailored one-on-one work built around that exact behaviour.

Four programs. One standard of work.

Every program — regardless of length — includes crate training, in-home manners and structured exposure to other dogs as standard. Longer programs add depth, proofing and off-leash reliability.

Every program now runs a few days longer than a flat week count — extra time built in for settling and follow-through, at no extra cost, so results aren't cut short by an adjustment period.

Our commitment

The program guarantee.

If progress is behind schedule partway through the program, we'll assess it honestly and may extend the program at no additional cost — until we're confident in the result. That's a real commitment, not a marketing line.

Live availability

Intake spaces are genuinely limited.

We run a small number of dogs through each intake so every dog gets real, individual attention. Pick a program length to see accurate end dates.

Availability updates regularly — book a free assessment call to confirm and lock in your date.

The process

From enquiry to a finished dog.

1

Free assessment call

15 minutes to understand your dog, your goals and your household — and confirm this is the right program before anything is booked.

2

Program confirmed & deposit paid

10% deposit secures your intake date. You'll get a pre-arrival brief covering exactly what to bring and prepare.

3

Drop-off day

A structured intro to the environment and routine your dog will be living in for the length of the program.

4

Daily structured work

Training, exposure and conditioning every day — not occasional sessions between long stretches of kennel time.

5

Progress updates

Regular updates through the program so you're never wondering how things are going.

6

Handover session(s)

Hands-on coaching before collection — you handle, we guide, so the result comes home with you intact.

7

Collection & post-program support

A written report and a defined support window after you leave, scaled to your program length.

Behind the scenes

A day in the program.

6:30

Calm wake & structured feeding

No chaos rewarded — calm in the crate earns the release.

7:30

Decompression walk

Low-arousal start to the day, not a wind-up.

9:00

Training block — engagement & obedience

Marker training and core obedience — the skills used in real exposure later.

11:00

Real-world exposure

Streets, parks, cafés — wherever your dog needs to be reliable, that's where we train.

14:00

Training block — proofing

The same skills, with more distraction, distance or duration.

16:30

Public access outing

Cafés, hardware stores, busy streets — as the program progresses.

19:00

Settle & crate training

The off-switch most dogs on this program never learned.

Freedom Program · 6 Weeks · Border Collie
"Milo has always had insane prey drive — we never trusted him off-lead around livestock or other dogs. After 6 weeks with Nathan we can actually let him off lead now and know he's coming back to us. So grateful."
Dave & Sarah & Milo — high prey drive, fence fighting, unreliable off-leash

Questions

Before you enquire.

Board & Train is built around obedience and behaviour for every dog. For aggression specifically, Private Training is usually the better starting point, with our most intensive 8-week Board & Train program available for complex cases after a full assessment.
A 10% deposit secures your intake date, refundable up to 14 days before drop-off. The remaining balance is due on your program's start date. No financing or installment plans.
No — it's optional, not mandatory. It's available as an add-on on the 6 and 8-week programs, and you're welcome to do either program with or without it. When it is used, it's only introduced once foundation work is solid, and always with proper conditioning first. It's never used as a shortcut or punitively — you'll see exactly how and why it's used during your handover. We use a Dogtra or Educator unit depending on the dog, and it's yours to keep at the end of the program.
Included with the 6 and 8-week programs: for 12 months after your dog graduates, if you need somewhere to drop them off overnight — a trip away, an emergency, anything — we'll take them, any time, no separate booking process required.
In a home environment, not a kennel or facility — integrated into a daily routine, sleeping indoors, trained throughout the day in a real domestic context.
That depends on consistency at home. The handover session is designed to give you everything you need to maintain the result.
